The
Statement
As the responsible group for the magazine part of the
project, our ideas for our part are some designs which can provide alternative
activities for the city Tuzla.
Since people need a new face for the city, this project will bring a good
approach to the industrial heritage as well.
The magazine part will be designed for commercial uses
and cultural activities. Those are going to provide enough activities and
entertainment to attract people to spend more time on this area. Considered
spaces for magazine are cafe, restaurant, conference hall,
workshops&classrooms for art lessons, art activities such as exhibitions,
concerts, and there has to be a hostel to make it more touristic and at the
same time a commercial source for budget circulation.
The other considered thing for the magazine part is
sustainability. Contemporary world requires new designs that have sustainable
features. Green gardens and renewable systems have to be applied while
considering architectural design. Therefore , while designing something new or
restoring some building that had been existing before, it should have some
feautures such as sustainability to last forever and at the same time it should
have a contemporary face to be able to known
worldwide.
When it comes to approach to the
subject from the point of industrial heritage, we as future architects, take
into consideration the fact that it is one of the most important work of
architectural studies to restore some industrial heritage buildings like ours
in Tuzla.
Because, before restoring the building there are a lot of researches etc to be
made to be able to be familiar of the building in order to understand and see
what was there? , what was it for?, and how would it be the best to restore it
by not going away much from the existing remains to be respectful to the
heritage of building and as well as the architects and engineers who have contributed to the existence of the
building many ages ago.
In conclusion, restoration requires
knowledge, skill and contemporary point
of view in order to make the building as much as coherent to its original look
and design by adding or removing or even fixing to fit it to its place as
suitable as possible.
